Privacy Policy
Effective Date: February 25, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to 5minRecipe.com. I'm the person behind this site, and I want to be upfront about how things work here. 5minRecipe is a recipe blog dedicated to helping you get delicious food on the table in five minutes or less. It's a passion project, and your trust matters to me.
This Privacy Policy explains what information is collected when you visit 5minrecipe.com, how it's used, and what rights you have over your data. I've tried to write this in plain language — no confusing legal jargon — because you deserve to actually understand what you're agreeing to.
By using this website, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If something doesn't sit right with you, please reach out before you stop using the site — I'd genuinely like to hear your concerns.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
There are a few ways you might share personal information with me voluntarily:
- Comments: If you leave a comment on a recipe, I collect your name, email address, and any information you include in the comment itself. Your email is not displayed publicly.
- Contact Form: If you send a message through the contact form, I collect your name, email address, and the content of your message.
- Newsletter Sign-Up: If you subscribe to the 5minRecipe newsletter, I collect your email address. That's it — I keep it simple.
Information Collected Automatically
Like virtually every website on the internet, 5minRecipe.com automatically collects certain technical data when you visit. This includes your IP address, browser type and version, the device and operating system you're using, which pages you visit and how long you spend on them, and the website that referred you here. This data is collected through cookies and analytics tools (explained in more detail below) and is used in aggregate to understand how the site is being used — not to track you as an individual.
3. How We Use Your Information
Here's what I actually do with the information collected on this site:
- To run and improve the site: Analytics data helps me understand which recipes are popular, how people find the site, and where I can make things better.
- To respond to your messages: If you contact me through the contact form, I use your email to reply to you.
- To moderate comments: Comment information is used to post your comment and to filter spam.
- To send newsletters: If you've subscribed, I'll occasionally send you new recipes and site updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To serve relevant advertising: 5minRecipe uses Google AdSense to display ads, which may use your data to show you ads that are more relevant to your interests. More on this below.
I do not sell your personal information to anyone. Ever.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites save to your browser. They're used for all kinds of things — keeping you logged in, remembering your preferences, tracking site performance, and serving ads. Most websites use them, and 5minRecipe.com is no exception.
Types of Cookies Used on This Site
- Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the site to function. They handle things like security and basic functionality. You can't opt out of these without breaking the site.
- Analytics Cookies: These come from Google Analytics and help me understand how visitors use the site — things like which pages are most visited, how long people stay, and where they come from. This data is aggregated and anonymized.
- Advertising Cookies: These are placed by Google AdSense and related advertising networks. They track your browsing behavior across websites to show you ads that are more likely to be relevant to you.
How to Manage or Disable Cookies
You have full control over cookies. Most browsers allow you to view, manage, and delete cookies through their settings. Here's how to do it in the most common browsers:
- Google Chrome: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and other site data
- Mozilla Firefox: Options > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Microsoft Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
Please be aware that disabling certain cookies may affect how parts of the site work, including the display of content and ads.
5. Google AdSense and Third-Party Advertising
5minRecipe.com participates in Google AdSense, which means Google serves advertisements on this site. To do this, Google uses cookies — including the DART cookie and the DoubleClick cookie — to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and other sites across the internet.
What this means practically: if you've been searching for, say, kitchen gadgets or grocery delivery services, you might see ads for those things on 5minRecipe.com. Google uses your browsing history (across sites that use Google's advertising services) to make that connection.
I want to be transparent that I don't directly control which ads appear — Google's advertising systems handle that. I do, however, try to keep advertising from being intrusive or disruptive to your experience on the site.
You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings page. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
For more information on how Google collects and uses data in connection with advertising, visit Google's advertising policies.
6. Google Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to help me understand how visitors interact with 5minRecipe.com. Google Analytics collects information such as how often you visit the site, which pages you view, and what site you came from before landing here. This information is used in aggregate form — I look at trends and patterns, not individual user behavior.
Google Analytics collects data through cookies and assigns a randomly generated number to identify unique visitors. It does not collect personally identifiable information on its own, though the data is stored on Google's servers and subject to Google's privacy practices.
You can learn more about how Google uses data by visiting Google's Privacy Policy. You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7. Third-Party Links
Recipes sometimes call for specific ingredients or tools, and I may link to external websites — Amazon, other food blogs, product pages, and so on. These sites have their own privacy policies, and I have no control over or responsibility for their practices. I'd encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit through a link on this page.
8. Children's Privacy
5minRecipe.com is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information to this site, please contact me at contact@5minrecipe.com and I will promptly delete it. This site complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
9. Data Retention
I hold on to your data only for as long as it's needed. Here's a rough breakdown:
- Comments: Retained indefinitely unless you request deletion or I remove them for other reasons.
- Contact form submissions: Kept for as long as needed to respond to your inquiry, typically no longer than 12 months.
- Newsletter subscriptions: Your email is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. Once you unsubscribe, it is removed from the mailing list.
- Analytics data: Governed by Google Analytics' own data retention settings, typically 26 months.
10. Your Privacy Rights
Regardless of where you live, you have meaningful rights over your personal data. You have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information I hold about you.
- Correction: Ask me to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request that I delete your personal data, subject to any legal obligations I may have to retain certain records.
- Opt out of cookies: Use your browser settings or the opt-out tools mentioned in this policy to limit cookie tracking.
- Withdraw consent: If you gave consent for something (like the newsletter), you can take it back at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email me at contact@5minrecipe.com. I'll respond within 30 days.
11. CCPA Rights — California Residents
If you're a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you additional rights over your personal information.
- Right to Know: You can request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected about you, the sources of that data, and the purposes for which it's used.
- Right to Delete: You can request that I delete personal information I've collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt Out of Sale: I do not sell personal information. However, the use of advertising cookies by Google AdSense may qualify as a "sale" under certain interpretations of the CCPA. You can opt out of this through Google's Ad Settings.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: You will not receive different treatment or service for exercising your CCPA rights.
To submit a CCPA request, contact me at contact@5minrecipe.com.
12. GDPR Rights — EU and EEA Residents
If you're located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) gives you specific rights regarding your personal data.
Lawful Basis for Processing
I process personal data on the following legal grounds:
- Consent: For newsletter subscriptions and non-essential cookies, I rely on your explicit consent.
- Legitimate Interests: For analytics and site improvement, I rely on legitimate interests (running and improving the website), balanced against your rights.
- Contract: For responding to contact form messages, processing is necessary to fulfill your request.
Your GDPR Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. You also have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis for processing.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority if you believe your data has been handled in a way that violates the GDPR.
To exercise your GDPR rights, email contact@5minrecipe.com.
13. Newsletter and Email Communications
The 5minRecipe newsletter is strictly opt-in — I will never add you to an email list without your explicit permission. If you've subscribed, you'll occasionally hear from me with new recipes, site updates, or seasonal content.
Every email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you'll be removed from the list immediately — no questions asked, no hoops to jump through. You can also unsubscribe by emailing contact@5minrecipe.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.
14. Comments
When you leave a comment on a recipe or post, the comment form collects your name, email address, and the content of your comment. Your email address is not displayed publicly — it's used only for spam detection and, in rare cases, to follow up with you about your comment.
Comments may be screened before they are published. I reserve the right to remove any comment that contains spam, offensive content, or personal information that shouldn't be public.
If you'd like a comment removed after it's been published, email me at contact@5minrecipe.com.
15. Contact Form
The contact form on 5minRecipe.com collects your name, email address, and the message you write. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry. I don't add contact form submissions to any mailing list, and the data is not shared with third parties.
Messages are typically retained for up to 12 months and then deleted unless there's a specific reason to keep them longer (for example, an ongoing conversation or a follow-up that's still open).
16. Changes to This Policy
Privacy practices evolve, and I may update this policy from time to time — for example, if I add new features to the site, start using new tools, or need to comply with new laws. When changes are made, I'll update the effective date at the top of this page.
For significant changes, I'll do my best to notify regular visitors — either through a notice on the site or via email if you're subscribed to the newsletter. That said, I'd encourage you to check back here occasionally to stay current.

Email: contact@5minrecipe.com

I'll do my best to respond within 1-3 days. For urgent data protection matters, please include "Privacy Request" in the subject line so I can prioritize it.
